The play examines the family system considered as both a means of, and a barrier to, human liberation. The cast includes Ursula Ritter, Kelly Hellman, Kate Ritter, and Richard Ritter.

RED LACQUER

Dreamland Theatre presents a Chinese opera about dentistry. This psychologically explosive, teeth-scraping, groundbreaking theatre piece delves into the deepest recesses of our collective subconscious and returns with all the guck about teeth we've been repressing for years. Inspired by dada theatre and symbolist surrealism, The Truth About Teeth explores the American culture of Teeth, addressing all of our most primal fears and dental insecurities. Why do we think so much about teeth? Why do teeth take up so much of our time, our thoughts, our energy, and our pocket book? What do teeth mean? San Francisco artist-at-large Jess Rowland has written this psychic teeth cleaning exclusively for Dreamland Theatre. It will feature a site-specific musical score based around an electric organ re-tuned to scales used in Chinese Opera. Jess Rowland will be performing the score live for the first weekend of performances. The play will be directed by Naia Venturi, proprietor of Dreamland Theatre. Venturi and Rowland have collaborated many times before, most notably on a collection of musical puppet shows for Venturi's well-known puppet theatre. Lollipops will be distributed to audience members at the end of the performance.

THE ART OF SOUND:
Current Rock Poster Prints from San Francisco.

From the San Francisco music scene, Jess Rowland comes to town with his arms full of his original screen-prints he has made for local bands and performance venues there. Drawing on the strong tradition of psychedelic poster art in San Francisco, and inspired by his tenure of working for internationally renowned poster artist Kozik, Jess is among the small group of emerging artists who are redefining this uniquely San Franciscan art form. Collected together for the first time, many rare prints will be available for collectors and fans of up-and-coming bands like Bonfire Madigan, The Stratford Four, Kung Fu USA, and venues like The Werepad. Also featured will be printing-related artwork.
