The Dreamland Puppet Troupe presents:
THE SNOW QUEEN IN SEVEN STORIES
~ a marionette show based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen, adapted as a puppet show by Naia Venturi, with original music by Misha Grey.

Gill and the Little Robber Girl

The tale is told in seven stories, the first of which lays the plot foundation: the story of a hobgoblin that caused shards of enchanted glass to circulate over the globe causing strife to those that encounter them. The second story introduces a pair of best friends, a little girl, Gill and a boy, Kay. But when Kay becomes affected by one of the shards of glass he shuns his dear friend, and disappears from their town. The story follows Gill as she searches for her lost friend who has in fact become captivated by the Snow Queen. Dreamland Puppet Troupe's The Snow Queen in Seven Stories is a multimedia spectacle using marionettes, shadow puppets, hand puppets, video projection and music.

The Buffali are a bombastic acoustic indie-pop duo. Featuring wacky vocal interplay and catchy melodies, this irreverent girl/guy outfit sings songs about everything from heartbreak to alien abduction. Their unique songwriting incorporates influences ranging from the Beatles to the blues, with a healthy dose of country and a quirk reminiscent of the Violent Femmes thrown in. The duo brings an infectious glee to their entertaining live show, combining originals with an eclectic mix of covers from hip-hop to oldies. They play acoustic guitar and acoustic bass guitar, and occasionally piano, upright bass and auxiliary percussion.

Since winning the University of Wisconsin-Madison Battle of the Bands in 2004, The Buffali have developed a devoted following, an email list including fans in cities throughout the region and positive reviews in all of Madison's local press. The Buffali celebrated the release of their new album "Kerfuffle No. 10" with a regional CD release tour in June 2005.

The Buffali have shared the stage with Clyde Stubblefield, Those Darn Accordions, the Ditty Bops and the Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, among others. The duo has performed at Madison's premiere venues including the High Noon Saloon and the UW Memorial Union Terrace, and were the featured band at the 2005 Wisconsin Film Festival.
